When you enter a rating on WARPA, it is stored as a vote in a histogram (see below) along with votes from other users. We call this wine appreciation histogram 'AQI' for 'Average Quality Indicator'. The word Quality really means consumer panel appreciation. This way, we accommodate for the fact that wine appreciation is a highly personal experience strongly dependent on the taste and preference of the individual.
You can see the histograms bij clicking on the histogram icon ( )
The WARPA team has demonstrated through blind group tastings that good wines come out with a higher average and median than others, so the differentiation is just as strong - only based on much richer data and with more nuance. It can be shown that wine lovers like certain styles of wine and will give higher ratings for wines that match certain profiles.
For ease of use, WARPA ratings can be searched on Woochi, just type in the name of the wine or the producer .. and once you've found the wine, click the Vintages tab to choose the year, and choose Ratings.
